Delhi temperature touches 44 degree celsius, hottest day of season
“The Safdarjung Observatory, reading of which is considered the official figure for Delhi, recorded 44 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature at Palam, Lodhi Road, Ridge and Ayanagar Observatories were recorded at 46.2, 44.2, 45.4 and 45.2 degrees Celsius respectively”. However, the maximum temperature remained up to 40 degrees Celsius at some places in the city.

The official said lack of showers in the past few days was mainly responsible for the high temperatures.
“Western disturbance will have good impact on the Delhi region but south Indian states like Telangana and Kerala would not get respite”, the official said.
Saturday’s maximum temperature settled at 39.9 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season’s average, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 22 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season’s average.
The Met office has forecast rain and thundershowers in the state from Tuesday. The district now accounts for 76 deaths in the overall toll for the state.
The Met department has extended the heat wave warning for two more days.
The national capital on Monday witnessed the hottest day of the season as the mercury soared to 44 degrees Celsius, five notches above the season’s average.

In view of the heat conditions, school timings in Lucknow and many other places have been rescheduled, with all the schools upto class 8 closing down by 11 a.m. “In 1994, mercury crossed 45 degrees Celsius”. The maximum was 38.6 degrees while the minimum was 28.7 degrees.
