Yankees place Alex Rodriguez on DL with hamstring injury

When Alex Rodriguez spoke to the media on Tuesday night, he didn’t appear optimistic that his hamstring would help him avoid the disabled list.

New York Yankees designated hitter Alex Rodriguez was forced to leave Tuesday’s game with a strained right hamstring.

The injury occurred Tuesday night while Rodriguez was running out a grounder in the fifth inning of a loss to the Orioles.

Rodriguez missed two games last week because of an oblique injury.

“I don’t know. I don’t want to speculate. It’s extremely frustrating. I was looking to come to Baltimore and continue what I started in Texas and Boston”. He’s hitting for a.194/.275/.444 slash line and finally seemed to be putting it together of late, hitting.353 over the past week with three home runs and six RBI.

In March, Rodriguez announced he is planning to retire at the end of the 2017 season after playing out his contract. As a corresponding move, the Yankees have temporarily called up LHP James Pazos from Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre.

Pazos had a 3.00 ERA and 1.833 WHIP through 12 innings this season for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
