Bills extend LT Glenn for 5 years

The Bills made sure their quarterbacks will be protected for years to come Tuesday by handing left tackle Cordy Glenn a long-term contract extension. The 5-year/$65 million extension, with $36 million guaranteed, solidifies the left edge of their offensive line which has been mediocre the past few seasons, yet Glenn has been one of the few mainstay’s.

Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk offered more details, reporting that Glenn will earn $19 million in the first year of the deal and $30 over the first two seasons.

The Bills placed a non-exclusive franchise tag on Glenn on March 1. He is ranked as the 10th-best overall offensive tackle in the league and 5th-best in pass blocking, according to Pro Football Focus.

Glenn, 26, was selected out of Georgia in the second round of the 2012 draft. He missed three games as a rookie because of an ankle injury. However, the Bills had until July 15 to sign Glenn long-term.

Glenn was the Bills’ recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award for the 2015 season, which is voted on by teammates.
