Prosecutors said he organised the killing of Khdeir and the court also ordered him to pay 150,000 shekels ($39,000) to Abu Khdeir’s family.

The military said Omar Nazzal is being held on suspicion of “unlawful activity” for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a small PLO faction that has been labeled a terrorist organization by Israel.

The Israeli ringleader in the killing of a Palestinian teenager who was abducted and burned to death in 2014 has been sentenced to life in prison.

Israeli authorities said the suspects had made a decision to kill an Arab and equipped themselves with cables, petrol and other materials before randomly choosing Abu Khdeir.

The killing of Abu Khdeir was widely condemned in Israel, but fueled clashes between Palestinians and Israeli police.

Before the sentence was read out, Ben-David told the court he was “sorry” for what happened.

Local sources said the Palestinian was killed on Tuesday near the illegal Israeli settlement of Dolev northwest of Ramallah. The attack was part of a spiral of violence in the run-up to the seven-week 2014 Gaza war between Israel and Hamas.

A group affiliated with the armed wing of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s ruling Fatah party, the Abd el-Qader el-Husseini Brigade, claimed responsibility for the attack. Other goods are smuggled in through tunnels from neighboring Egypt. Soldiers at the scene opened fire and killed the attacker, it said.

In the meantime, forces detained a Palestinian during a predawn raid into Seida town, north of Tulkarem city in the northern West Bank.

Almost 200 Palestinians were killed during this period, some in clashes with Israeli security forces during protests, while others were gunned down by security forces after committing attacks.

Earlier Tuesday, the Israeli military demolished the home of a Palestinian attacker who gunned down two Israelis in front of their children in the West Bank past year. The Israeli army demolished the house of Amer, an arrested member of a Hamas c.

A spokesman for the Israeli medical emergency services said the victim, a 60-year-old Jewish man, was taken to a Jerusalem hospital in a moderate condition. Their four young children in the back of the auto escaped unharmed. Critics say Israel’s large-scale use of the practice amounts to a violation of rules of due process.

The siblings’ family and Palestinian witnesses have disputed the police account, saying the siblings were some 20 meters (yards) away from security forces and could have been stopped without deadly force.
