Demand Pochettino extends contract with Spurs until 2021

That will not be happening now, as today, the 44-year-old announced a new verbal agreement to stay with the club until 2021.

“We keep working hard, try to believe and the players have given their best every day”. I believe in this project and this club. They are important to our future.

‘If it comes down to the last game and Leicester need to win you will have 40,000 supporters at Stamford Bridge supporting Leicester’.

As the season winds down, with nothing left to play for (except maybe 9th place!), Chelsea have produced several limp, disinterested performances.

Pochettino was on Manchester United’s radar and had also been linked with Paris Saint Germain but he said he not had any other offers, that the club’s desire to keep him was all the assurances he needed and that now the deal had been agreed the attention could be on the pitch not the dugout. “Our president is very clever with how he manages and builds with that, and I think it is normal – if you achieve, you want more. It is a collective objective”, he said.

Pochettino insisted he did not ask for any assurances about players coming or going this summer.

“In the moment that the president wanted to extend my contract he showed his ambition”.

“I had to restore the confidence and more in this team and club”.

“But since Poch joined two years ago they have finally focused on what they must do, rather than worry about the team down the road”. There’s no need for extra scrutiny because we want to fulfil our obligations now and in the upcoming games.

“It certainly looked like it got to some of them in the second half”.

“This season was important”. We’ve messed up this season but it will make it easier if none of our big rivals are able to cash in. If I can help with my new contract and if Leicester drop points on Sunday I think it is welcome. Don’t do this, don’t do that.’ I was thinking, ‘OK, here we go!’ I’m a Sheffield United fan, I love red and white!

“We have an especially strong squad, energetic, with potential to be a top gathering”. He was given the security to build his legacy at Manchester United.

Alli will keep training with Pochettino’s squad until the end of the campaign, but the Argentine will not tell the 20-year-old to change his approach. “To be consistent for the club is fantastic and to have a clear idea and follow a philosophy is an advantage”.
