Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula said today that the last two losing seasons were big successes for his National Hockey League team. While speaking at a Business of Sports panel in Buffalo, Pegula said the past two seasons for the Sabres were “two of the most successful seasons we’ve ever had”.

With the stability of Pegula ownership of the Bills and Sabres, and long-time Rich ownership of the Buffalo Bisons, Bob Rich said “Buffalo has never been in better shape as far as professional sports are concerned”.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and numerous high-powered NFL owners are on record in saying a new stadium eventually is necessary for Western New York.
The first stages of Ralph Wilson Stadium’s renovation were completed last fall, months after the building’s namesake and original owner passed away. But there’s no time frame in place for when that might happen. We’ve realized if that work was just done how foolish would you look if you start looking around at a new stadium if we just renovated the one we have.
“The only answer to that question is the state and county, there’s been a lot of money put into Ralph Wilson Stadium”, Pegula said, via the Buffalo News. “We have time. We have an existing lease on the current stadium”. Both the location and the name of where the Bills play don’t appear likely to change any time soon.

When asked about selling possible naming rights to the current stadium, Pegula was hesitant to commit, citing his respect for the late Ralph Wilson. Terry Pegula said.
