Busch grabs elusive Indy victory as comeback continues Republican American
Not only did he sweep the weekend, the first driver to do so, but Busch has come out on top in four of the last five Sprint Cup races, including three straight. Edwards restarted second with 14 laps to go while Busch was third, Truex Jr. fourth and Logano fifth.

Five-time Brickyard 400 victor Jeff Gordon had a tough final race at Indianapolis after hitting the wall in avoidance of a spinning Bowyer on the first restart at the 50-lap mark.
Next on the Sprint Cup schedule is Sunday’s Pennsylvania 400 at Pocono Raceway.
Matt Kenseth was seventh ahead of Kurt Busch, Kyle Larson and Brad Keselowski.
The end game: While its seems safe to assume Busch will garner enough points over the next six races to make The Chase, one thing he must avoid is a DNF – Did not Finish – which could curtail everything he has done.
“It’s not like I didn’t want to be there, but my team was still there, and we’re going to go on and compete for a championship, and if we win a championship, then it’s not that they’re going to take it away from me”, Busch said.
Chase Battle Intensifies: For all intents and purposes, you can now include Kyle Busch into the Chase Grid.
Because he missed 11 races, there are some who say Busch isn’t deserving of a playoff spot.
Logano got close on the final two laps, but settled for second as Busch managed to pull away.
“My memories are always going to be spectacular”, Gordon said after the Indy race, “I am very upbeat about Indianapolis“. He won both races.
“This has been a phenomenal return”, Busch said.
“To earn big here, approved it’s in another truck or vehicle, nonetheless it still maintains a great deal of significance to me given the fact that i been given located on the settee paying attention to it for decades, the 500 with the parent and my granddaddy it also…”
NASCAR already has a way to address that by crowning a championship driver and vehicle owner. Toyota Racing Development president David Wilson noted that the win also should help change the impression that Toyota engines are better suited to smaller tracks, noting that it has won at short tracks, intermediate tracks and now a superspeedway during the winning streak.
“This is not good for Nico, but the main downside is I have seen us losing ground on Ferrari and on Vettel”, he said. “I’ve got sweat in my eyes…” “And with the tail extension of this new [aero] package and the big spoiler, there’s just not the air moving inside or under the auto, and that’s adding to the heat”.
With drivers feeling as if they had to back off whenever they closed in on another vehicle, its not clear if those statistics will be improved Sunday. Gordon is a record five- time victor of this prestigious race, including a victory here past year. “I think I’m the only one in that category, so I’m leading that category but that’s definitely gonna sting for a long time”.

Logano was among those who stayed out during the first yellow flag, inheriting the lead and holding the top spot until he turned the position back over to Harvick when he headed for pit road under green just before lap 65. “He said ‘Don’t win this race, it’s important for Formula One.”‘.
When radical alterations were introduced for all drivers at the Kentucky Speedway and at Indianapolis, it put him on a more level playing field. The resulting damage ended any hope of another Brickyard trophy for the four-time Sprint Cup champion.
