A California dream-come-true as Rams take QB Jared Goff
Jared Goff will be the face of the new Los Angeles Rams franchise after being selected with the first pick in the NFL Draft. Goff and Wentz visited the Rams’ temporary headquarters in coastal Oxnard, California, where Goff is expected to report next weekend for his first rookie minicamp. They used it on Goff, the Bay Area native coming off three record-setting seasons at California.

“He’s got a quick release, he understands the quarterback position, he’s going to get rid of the football, and he’s competitive”.
The LA Rams traded their 113th overall pick to the Chicago Bears for the 117th overall pick and the 206th overall pick, the latter of which falls in the sixth round. “Those are some of the skill sets that I see in Carson – that aggression, that ability to throw the ball down the field”.
The quarterback, who was picked first by Kroenke’s Los Angeles Rams on Thursday in the annual draft, is also an Arsenal supporter.
Wearing a bright blue suit during a news conference at a downtown hotel, Goff displayed his No. 16 jersey – for Montana, of course – and shook hands with coach Jeff Fisher and general manager Les Snead, whose fates might be tied to Goff’s success.
Team officials had been tight-lipped about their plans for the pick since they acquired the pick from the Titans.
“If you’re a first-round quarterback, there’s going to be pressure regardless”, Goff said. “Very excited to get down there and get to work”. Goff noted it’s been a long interview process leading up to the draft, and he’s eager to just start playing football again.
The first true freshman to start a game at Berkeley, Goff said his biggest adjustment will be the speed of the pro game.
Goff pledged to “be really focused on being the best player I can be, the best teammate I can be, the best leader I can be”, and said it was “really, really cool” to meet past Ram quarterbacks Jim Everett and Vince Ferragamo Friday. “I want to prove myself, and ultimately it’s up to the coaches to make that decision”.
Several picks from this year’s first round can be seen as risky, although a few of them need looking beyond the surface. The Rams said earlier this year that Case Keenum would be the Rams starter going into training camp.
Goff revealed he has already exchanged text messages with Rams running back Todd Gurley.

The lanky 21-year-old is known as a cool presence in the pocket. Snead and Fisher spent the second straight day feeling triumphant about their acquisition. Los Angeles chose another big tight end with the second pick of the sixth round, getting South Carolina State’s Temarrick Hemingway, before adding Southern Miss receiver Michael Thomas later in the sixth. “For those of you that don’t know about NDSU football the support we have back there is unbelievable and to know that support is following me into the NFL really the whole state of ND its just unbelievable and I could be More appreciative of those people”, said Wentz.
