Mumbai: All four accused Jitendra Rana, Sunil Bodh, Satish Dulhaj and Dipak Tival were on Thursday held guilty of murder by a Mumbai court in the sensational 2011 Keenan-Reuben murder case. Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam took it up.
On October 20, 2011, the victims got into a brawl with the four convicts when they passed lewd comments on the two girls with them at Amboli Bar. The duo was standing there along with some women friends when the group allegedly started harassing the women.
“We have to beg for justice”, Keenan’s father Valerian Santos told NDTV before today’s verdict.
After retreating at that point, the group came back to the spot with over 10 people and repeatedly stabbed Keenan and Reuben.
“I am happy with the life time imprisonment as they should live every moment and think about Kenan and Reuben, they should live every moment the way we are going to live our whole lives, ? he added”.
“I would not ask for capital punishment because I know it’s not rarest of rare case. Keenen’s birthday has gone in March, I had hoped to gift him this”, said Valerian.
The family members of Keenan and Reuben broke down outside the court and were unconsolable.
– Keenan died on the same day, while Reuben succumbed to his injuries 10 days later, on October 31.
But correspondents say tougher laws have failed to bring down the number of rape cases being reported and a series of high-profile crimes have taken place since then.

The four convicts had been arrested after the incident and charged for murder and molestation. In the trial the prosecution examined 245 witnesses.
