The expansive recall includes all of the frozen organic and traditional fruit and vegetable products manufactured or processed in CRF Frozen Foods’ since May 1, 2014.
If you have organic frozen fruits or vegetables in your freezer that meet the April 2016-to-April 2018 sell-by date criteria, go to the FDA’s Web page about the recall and look at the list of brands, varieties, package sizes and UPC codes affected by the recall.
That covers about 358 different products sold under 42 separate brands, including products sold at Costco, Walmart and Trader Joe’s.
There have been no reported illnesses in Canada associated with the consumption of the food, the CFIA said.
The outbreak has led to eight hospitalizations.
A listeria outbreak, which has left several people hospitalized, has prompted a huge nationwide recall of frozen foods. The massive recall involves 42 brands and items that may have been purchased in any of the nation’s 50 states.
Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, according to the FDA.
Products that are affected have a “best by” or “sell by” between April 26, 2016 and April 26, 2018, said the release.
Last year, Blue Bell Creameries recalled all of its ice cream products after 10 people were sickened with listeria.
Dole is under Department of Justice investigation for a Listeria outbreak linked to packaged salad products from its processing plant in Springfield, Ohio.
Operations at CRF’s Pasco facility have been shut down since April 25 so an investigation can determine the source of the contamination.
“We apologize for any concern or inconvenience this expanded recall has caused our customers and consumers who enjoy our products”, company officials said.
