The movie is scheduled for a May 2018 release, and Star Wars: Episode VIII, which comes out only five months earlier on December 15, 2017, is already over half-way through production.

“Han shot first!” has been the rallying cry of disgruntled Star Wars fans ever since George Lucas began relentlessly tweaking his iconic movies, most notably that infamous change to Han and Greedo’s cantina encounter.

While both studios narrow down the seemingly monumental search for an actor to assume the coveted role – last we reported, Hail Caesar’s Alden Ehrenreich, Jack Raynor and Kingsman’s Taron Egerton emerged as the likely candidates – Miller and co-director Phil Lord are deep in pre-production on their origins movie. Whether this is a set photo from The Force Awakens or new sets being constructed for Miller’s Han Solo movie we’re not sure, but it’s a fun reminder that we still have more adventures ahead for our favorite scruffy lookin’ nerf herder.

The Han Solo prequel will open in cinemas on 25 May, 2018, coming after this year’s Rogue One spin-off, next year’s Star Wars 8 sequel and 2019’s Star Wars 9 trilogy ender. However, they may have their biggest piece of evidence yet to confirm that Han did indeed shoot first as of Star Wars Day 2016 (May 4).

Offering a close-up of Han’s signature DL-44 blaster, the circuit board and general aesthetic of the still image evokes a nostalgia for the Star Wars films of old.
