If you’re in the U.S. and you own a BlackBerry Priv, why not check out the BBM video calling feature?
Canadian smartphone maker BlackBerry is clinging to relevance in the market, as iOS and Android devices forge ahead in a hugely crowded market.
And that’s it. The tweak has not UI or app icon; simply launch the BBM app from your home screen and you should see the options for video calling.
BlackBerry has made video calling available for BBM messaging users on iOS and Android devices. However, one path the company has taken towards mitigating disappointing hardware sales is to make software such as BBM messaging services available across iOS and Android. After that, BBM will ask whether you want to make a voice call or try a video call. BlackBerry has also removed its $1 privacy & control subscription to make all of BBM’s features free to all users. Video calling for iPhone and iPad users is also coming soon.now also available! What’s not yet clear is whether the video calling feature will be cross-platform between BlackBerry devices and Android or iOS handsets. But there’s a difference between BBM and other video-calling platforms, like FaceTime, WhatsApp, Skype, Snapchat, and Hangouts.

More bandwidth available to mobile users means that use of video calls is on the rise: according to Pew Research almost half (47 percent) of adult US smartphone users made a video call in 2015. This rise can be attributed to younger generations adopting the technology and new infrastructure being introduced to support smartphones, such as 4G wireless networks and high definition front-facing cameras. Gotcha. The company says the feature allows for meeting job candidates virtually and making decisions in “real time”.
