Donald Trump Back-Pedals Frantically On Mexicans With Cinco De Mayo Tweet

Too bad a taco bowl isn’t Mexican, the Trump Tower Grill isn’t either, you’re not eating taco bowls from NY because you’re in (West Virginia) today, Cinco De Mayo isn’t a Hispanic holiday. Secondly, Trump attempted to promote Trump Tower Grill…but the Grill doesn’t sell taco bowls.

Steven Dennis, a writer for Bloomberg, pointed out that an Eater.com review of the Trump taco bowl called it an “insult to Mexicans”.

The post generated tens of thousands of retweets and seemingly as many jokes.

Hillary Clinton was among those who responded to the post a short time later, seizing on the photo to attack the presumptive Republican nominee for president.

“Eating a taco or wearing a sombrero doesn’t cut it w/our community in 2016”, Murguia tweeted. “I love Hispanics!” he said on Facebook.

Trump has vowed to deport all undocumented immigrants in the United States and erect a wall along the U.S.-Mexican border, for which Mexico will pay.

Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican-American holiday with old roots dating back to Mexico’s short-lived military victory over invading French forces in 1862.

This year marks the fourth year Philadelphia has celebrated Mexican Week, an event celebrating the culture of our southern neighbor.

The taco bowl – an American creation – is not actually on sale at the Trump Grill, but the Trump Cafe in the candidate’s namesake tower offers a “Taco Fiesta!” for $13.50.
