Wenger: I’m sorry if I’ve let Arsenal supporters down

Manager Arsene Wenger has urged fans to look at Arsenal s season “in perspective” ahead of a planned protest by supporters groups during Saturday s Premier League match at home to Norwich City.

“I just think that we are here to give our best”, said Wenger. If it is only opinion then we have to accept that.

“This club does have special values though and one I’ve experienced over the years is to stick together and support the team”.

“You don’t spend so many years at a club – like Sir Alex Ferguson spent 26 – without every minute of your time, you give your whole life for that and try to do as well as possible”.

“I’m sorry if I can’t keep everyone 100 per cent happy”.

“I hope next season we improve a lot and I hope we win next season”.

“The simple fact is we need to win games if we want to stay in the Premier League”.

“I let him rest one or two games and you bring him back in against Norwich, when he came on, you could see he is a different animal again”.

Fans are set to protest this weekend after a disappointing season that has seen the Gunners’ Premier League title challenge fade.

But opposing boss Alex Neil, under pressure himself with two games to save Norwich from relegation, believes that pro-Wenger fans won the battle on Saturday. We have been remarkably consistent at the top. “We have to come back and win it, that’s all we can do”. I have shown my commitment and care for the club and for the fans.

“I will be the biggest supporter in the stand because I will feel I have contributed to that”.

“For me, they were behind the team”.

Another day goes by, another embarrassing stunt by Arsenal fans..

A second, even more muted protest occurred on 78 minutes as the Gunners saw out the game and secure all three points, albeit with yet another mediocre display.

A number of Arsenal fans are now openly unhappy with Wenger’s reign and at the match against the Canaries banners were held up calling for the Frenchman to leave.
