Dolphins owner Stephen Ross on Laremy Tunsil: ‘He’s really a good kid’

The video was enough to see the 21-year-old offensive tackle drop from a likely top-five pick to 13th overall, where he was taken by the Miami Dolphins. Dallas drafted former Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott fourth overall. The tweet was quickly taken down and Tunsil deleted his account. It’s all in God’s hands at this point after the last four years, the pro day, the combine.

“I most definitely think the good outweighs the bad when it comes to Ole Miss, and I don’t think the allegations that are happening with the NCAA are outweighing the good that Ole Miss has to offer to the world”.

“I don’t know who did it, I don’t know what happened”, he added. “The facts are way more important than speed and a public display of the process”.

He was in the midst of his first press conference since being drafted when he was peppered with questions prompted by images posted on his Instagram account of texts in which he appears to ask a University of MS athletics official for money to pay his mother’s electric bill.

Ross said he wasn’t going to allow the Twitter video of Tunsil smoking from a bong dissuade him, or the Instagram screen shots of Tunsil asking an Ole Miss football official for money to pay his mother’s bills.

The video was posted to Tunsil’s Twitter account by some jackwagon hacker who obviously had some sort of axe to grind against Tunsil for reasons unknown.

“I’m just excited to be part of this organization”, Tunsil said in response to one query about his character.

An arrest warrant issued Friday said the charge stems from a January 23 incident at a Conway, N.C., apartment and alleges 20-year-old Lewis engaged in sex with an 18-year-old woman incapacitated from using drugs or alcohol. It’s not a question of this guy changed overnight.

A little over an hour after he was a no-show at his introductory news conference with the Miami Dolphins, first-round pick Laremy Tunsil spoke to reporters after all.

The risky decision to pick a player 12 other teams passed on was endorsed by executive vice president of football operations Mike Tannenbaum, general manager Chris Grier and coach Adam Gase. Ross said there was a objective behind the trades, not simply a desire to make a splash.

Ole Miss athletic director Ross Bjork told The Associated Press in a text message that the school couldnt comment further because it was “working on getting answers to all of this.”. Because they had researched Tunsil before their pick, they said, “We’re very comfortable with Laremy – the player and the person”. “I never failed one”.

“I wish him good luck and hope every drafted player is wise to what it takes to make it in the National Football League and who really has your back”. They were then going to take linebacker Myles Jack until Tunsil became available.

Still, they emerged with a quality need pick, Baylor cornerback Xavien Howard. Late in the third round they traded up to select receiver Leonte Carroo of Rutgers, whom they had graded as a second-rounder. “When the opportunity arrived for us to make a play on him, we jumped at it”.
