The World’s Media Also Can’t Believe Trump Will Be The GOP Nominee
Clinton, in her first remarks since Trump’s new status was crystalized, said she was more than prepared to handle the kind of deeply personal attacks that helped defeat Trump’s Republican rivals.

Doug Gross, a Des Moines lawyer and longtime Republican, let out a deep sigh when a reporter asked about Trump’s prospects in the state. She says she is ready and says “this is to me a classic case of a blistering, bullying guy who has knocked out of the way all of the Republicans because they were dumbfounded” and “didn’t know how to deal with him”.
“Let’s get on the American team”, Clinton said, making an explicit appeal to independents and Republicans, in an interview with CNN on Wednesday.
“As a former member of his staff and an Ohioan, I am proud of John and the integrity and courage he brought to this presidential race”, he said. Those Republicans wanted a party that would reach out to Hispanics, for example, and not threaten to round up their relatives, deport them back to Mexico and then wall them off.
When is the New Jersey primary? It all evaporated Tuesday when the casino mogul won big in Indiana. A spokesman for his Democratic opponent, former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland, described Trump’s rise as Portman’s “election nightmare”. He’s said he expects to win a portion of Sanders’ support thanks to their shared positions on trade and outsourcing. The party of Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, Teddy Roosevelt and Dwight Eisenhower is about to anoint Donald Trump as its new leader. Clinton, her aides and her surrogates are all conveying that message.
With some 435 delegates still to be claimed, Trump needs to win only 190 to clinch the nomination.
The Republican establishment decided after the last election in 2012 that it couldn’t rely on simply mobilizing its base anymore, that its future lay in expanding that base. “In the Columbus suburbs, she’s going to do very well”.
Trump will most likely face off against Hillary Clinton, who leads Bernie Sanders on the Democrat side by several hundred delegates.
Trump’s takeover of the GOP marks one of the most stunning political feats in modern political history.
For some voters, that leaves them feeling like they have few good options.
It’s possible, even likely, that Democrats will benefit from the lessons learned by the many Republicans who tried and failed to stop Trump. But, honestly, there are some people I really don’t want.
“It’s his party between now and November, but I don’t think it’s going to be his party after November”, said Peter Wehner, a former adviser to President George W. Bush.
Iowa analysts said winning women in the suburban areas of Des Moines and in such places as Bettendorf and Marion are key to a Republican winning Iowa in the fall. “It would be shocking, but I don’t think it would be out of character for him”.
