By all indications, Donald Trump has the Republican presidential nomination sewn up.

Mr Kasich’s departure will clear the field for Mr Trump after the real estate mogul’s chief rival, US Senator Ted Cruz, ended his campaign on Tuesday following his defeat in Indiana’s Republican primary contest.

Now that all of the other feckless competitors have retreated from the Republican race with their tails between their legs, the Republican party must now face the absolutely truth of a Donald Trump general election.

Cruz’s departure will leave but one choice for anybody-but-Trump Republicans June 7. “You’ve got the Central Valley, people are starving for water, they’re pissed off in California…”

The claim was based on an aggregate of national polls showing him as the only GOP candidate beating Clinton in a matchup. He could win only in OH and muster a little over 150 delegates from the primaries and caucuses held in more than 40 states so far.

Even amid reports earlier that Kasich would drop out, there was some doubt.

In an interview with NPR that aired Thursday, the Vermont senator said he’s staying in the race “till the last vote is counted”.

JOHN YANG: Trump, who rails against politics as usual, said he’s looking for a running mate with a political background to help him navigate Washington.

“If he wants to go back to the playbook of the 1990s, if he wants to follow in the footsteps of those who have tried to knock me down and take me out of the political arena, I’m more than ready for him to do that”, she said. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) dropped out in light of Trump’s in victory on Tuesday. In the meantime, one high ranking Trump advisor said that a search will begin soon, but no short list exists just yet.

“As I suspend my campaign today I have faith that the Lord will show me the way forward and fulfil the goal of my life”.

SEN. BERNIE SANDERS (VT-I), Democratic Presidential Candidate: I understand that Secretary Clinton thinks that this campaign is over.

The Kasich campaign on Wednesday morning had released a slick new web video that celebrates Star Wars Day by casting the governor as the Republican Party’s “only hope” of beating Hillary Clinton next fall.

“‘I’ve seen the presidency up close from two different perspectives, and I think I know what it takes”, Clinton told CNN.
