“Captain America: Civil War”: Movie grosses $200.2M on opening weekend
“Captain America: Civil War” premieres in the US on May 6.

The actor, who dons Captain America’s mask and shield a fifth time for the latest Marvel movie, says the studio knows how to satisfy its fans. The marathon will kick off with Captain America: The First Avenger, then move on to The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron and finally a screening of Captain America: Civil War. But this particular series of films should make for an interesting watch as one can follow Cap’s singular story not just through his individual films, but through both Avengers movies as well.
The tentpole stars Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’ title character, and introduces Chadwick Boseman‘s Black Panther and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Minus the little dragging of the plot that happens in between, the movie is an engaging one as a whole and will not disappoint fans.
Iron Man certainly had his fair share of supporters in the Civil War comic book, but as the story continued to unfold, his actions became more villainous and the tide really started turning against Tony Stark.
Although Captain America: Civil War hasn’t opened in the United States and in other parts of the world like China, India, Italy and Russian Federation, it is estimated that after this week’s release, the opening weekend collections would soar high and overtake the Age of Ultron! If you do the math – even if projections are off and Civil War somehow doesn’t crack the top five – that means Disney owns four of the five top slots. As “Batman v Superman” tried but stumbled in laying the groundwork for its dark universe filled with conflict and adult themes, “Civil War” proves you can have all of that – and some lighthearted fun along the way.
