From competitor to partner: Carly Fiorina talks about campaign, Cruz

Cruz and Fiorina, however, said the move was needed to prevent front-runner Donald Trump from winning more delegates and the Republican nomination.

Trump praised Knight’s coaching record – which included three national titles and an undefeated season – and then the coach came out to echo his praise of the celebrity businessman.

“He is the first presidential candidate in the history of this country who’s mathematically eliminated from becoming president who chose a vice presidential candidate”, Trump said.

“I do think this is about the soul of our party and the future of our nation”, said the former GOP presidential candidate. I would venture that everyone who likes Carly Fiorina already prefers Cruz to Trump or John Kasich.

“She knows firsthand, that the key to economic growth is not government and more and more government, it is rather less and less government”, Cruz told supporters. In Indiana, which Cruz backers once believed they were favored to win after his strong defeat of Trump in Wisconsin, Cruz’s numbers have fallen precipitously: Once leading, Cruz now trails in the state by eight to 10 points, according to a person who has seen the numbers, with Trump over the 40% mark.

Her 4-year-old, Cole, kept saying, “Ted Cruz!”.

The Ohio Republican resigned last fall under pressure from conservatives allied with Cruz. Reagan’s choice of the centrist senator didn’t get him much, and he lost the nomination to President Gerald Ford.

“Yeah”, Fiorina responded. “And that’s why I voted for him in the voting booth”.

Fiorina, off a presidential run of her own, has a California pedigree, although the Silicon Valley executive decamped to Virginia after losing the United States Senate contest to Democrat Barbara Boxer in 2010.

Carly Fiorina was so happy to be named USA presidential hopeful Ted Cruz’s running mate, she broke into song during her acceptance speech.

Fiorina said she’s had tough fights all her life and “tough fights don’t worry me a bit”.

“Cruz also thought he’d creep out the whole people of IN, the Hoosier State lovers of basketball, by pretending that he shared their affections”, Wilmore said before running the clip of Cruz calling a basketball rim a “ring,” while trying to reenact a scene from the Gene Hackman film.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders conceded Wednesday that the delegate math was not in his favor and his campaign announced it was laying off hundreds of field staffers and other aides. Trump has won 77 percent of the delegates he needs to claim the nomination, and a win next week in IN will keep him on a firm path to do so. Trump must win 48 percent of the remaining delegates to avoid that scenario.

Knight, the winningest coach in Indiana University basketball history who was sacked amid allegations that he choked a former player, could hardly have been a more enthusiastic surrogate, calling Trump the “most prepared man in history” to be president.
