Adam McKay’s next superhero movie is Irredeemable
McKay worked on a draft of Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man, and has been involved in scripting its sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp.

McKay is coming off an Oscar win for The Big Short, and the surprisingly profitable success of Ant-Man.
20th Century Fox, the film studio famously known for producing the films of the “X-Men” franchise, is reportedly venturing into unknown waters with their newly, announced superhero film, Irredeemable. Comics book of the same name and would help kick off Fox’s brand-new superhero cinematic universe.
The world’s most powerful superhero is doing great, until he goes insane and starts killing anyone who stands in his way. In the wake of his turn to villainy, the former hero’s allies and super-team, the Paradigm, must team up with some of the Plutonian’s supervillain enemies to bring the fiend down… and learn just what drove him to the dark side.
What’s interesting is that this property is neither Marvel or DC, it’s a completely independent property owned by BOOM! Instead, Fox is further expanding its comic book horizons, acquiring the rights to IRREDEEMABLE from Boom!
IRREDEEMABLE was a property created by Mark Waid that ran for 36 issues following its launch in 2009.

According to Deadline, Anchorman director Adam McKay will helm the film, with Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters’ Tommy Wirkola in charge of adapting the story. With the Irredeemable film now in pre-production, we get the opportunity to witness a truly evil villain, whom still has the possibility of being redeemed at some point. BOOM! controls the largest library of comic book IP outside of Marvel and DC.
