Young Han Solo has finally been cast… it’s Alden Ehrenreich
Numerous actors were considered for the portrayal of young Han Solo in the Star Wars spinoff.

It was one of the most coveted roles in all the galaxy, and Alden Ehrenreich reigns supreme.
They’ll be working from a script that’s been penned by “Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi” scribe Lawrence Kasdan and his screenwriter son Jon. So far, it’s hard to fault either this casting decision or the creative team who will be working behind the scenes on this movie…
In case you somehow missed it, there’s a standalone Han Solo movie in the works, which is all about his younger years. Earlier shortlists pegged Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, and Brooklyn actor Emory Cohen among those asked to audition, and Dave Franco read for the role as well.
For many moons, Disney sifted through thousands of actors to find the right one to play the iconic “Star Wars” character made famous by Harrison Ford in “Star Wars”.

But with this fresh, low-key casting, which also happens to be age-appropriate, Disney and Lucasfilm is essentially working with a blank slate, and an actor with a throwback quality akin to Harrison Ford himself. It wasn’t until after the Bat Mitzvah that a group of friends told him Steven Spielberg had seen the tape and wanted to set him up with an agent directly from Universal Pictures. That’s not exactly a done deal, but we have to imagine it would take some kind of Hutt-level business contract to cause anyone to turn down the chance to play Han Solo. After a couple of television appearances, he made his feature debut with Francis Ford Coppola’s 2009 film, Tetro. Filming is set to star next January for a May 25, 2018 release in the US.
