Trump Sweeps Northeastern Primaries; Clinton Cements Wide Lead Over Sanders

Trump’s and Clinton’s wins propelled them ever closer to a general election showdown.

“I applaud Senator Sanders and his millions of supporters for challenging us to get unaccountable money out of our politics”, she said.

By Wednesday morning, the race was much more of a one-on-one competition between Trump and Hillary Clinton, whose easy victories the night before effectively ended the prospects of a Bernie Sanders nomination.

Trump has a history of making incendiary remarks about women. He is the better general election candidate against Donald Trump than Clinton is, Sanders warned, and he hinted that his success was based on one “unusual” feature of his campaign: “We are telling the truth”.

Donald Trump can’t help himself from knowingly rushing into the trap of his biggest weakness.

But Trump could find an opening as both he and Sanders have gained strong followings among voters looking for an outsider candidate who will shake up the Washington establishment. This isn’t Clinton’s first rodeo with bitter white guys who have a lot to prove to protect their delicate egos.

At a Sanders rally at Purdue University in IN on Wednesday, one Sanders supporter said he would “never even consider” supporting the NY billionaire. In a chaotic victory gathering at Trump Tower in NY he said: “I am the presumptive nominee, absolutely”.

I spend most of my professional life in classrooms with college students who have been overwhelmingly supportive of Bernie Sanders’ improbable insurgent candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination.

The race now pivots immediately to IN, which is shaping up to be Cruz’s best, and perhaps last, chance to slow Trump’s momentum toward the Republican nomination for the November 8 presidential election to succeed Democratic President Barack Obama.

The lawsuit over Trump University will go to trial, a NY judge ruled.

If Trump fails to get to that number until the convention, a new vote at the gathering will decide who will be the Republican presidential candidate. Both campaigns said Cruz will focus his resources on winning enough delegates in IN, while Kasich will focus his efforts on western states, including OR and New Mexico.

This after a series of angry tweets about the newly declared plan by Texas Senator Ted Cruz and Ohio Governor John Kasich to work together in future primaries (such as Indiana) to stop Trump from winning, and thereby forcing a contested election at the Republican National Convention – which would nearly certainly see party leaders force Trump out.

“Well, Bernie Sanders has a message that’s interesting”, Trump said. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich – announcing they would work together to prevent the New York City businessman from locking up the nomination.

The delegate counts were not final, but it appeared that Trump now has about three-quarters of the 1,237 delegates he needs for a majority, according to The Associated Press. “And look at how well I did with women tonight”. He hasn’t been able to overcome Clinton’s support among rank-and-file Democrats nationwide. Some, genuine appeals to consider third-party bids, like Jill Stein’s suggestion for a unity Green Party ticket, while others are more like nefarious trolling from the likes of Donald Trump.

But James Klein, who was elected in the 5th District and ran as a Trump supporter, told ABC News Monday that he is “wall-to-wall Trump”. Against that tide of antipathy even the nettlesome freshman senator Cruz has somehow become an insider.

He added, “I’ll beat Hillary so easily”. “This notion that is he going to change is complete bunk, to be honest with you”. “So when the media says. oh no, they’ll make the switch, they’ll consolidate, I don’t think they will”.
