‘Billboard’ names Taylor Swift top money-making musician for 2015
According to Billboard, which compiled the figures, Swift owned 2015 to the extent that she made almost twice as much as her nearest rival, the U.S. country star Kenny Chesney, who made a paltry $39.8m (£27.6m) in 2015.

Her albums go instantly platinum and her tours sell out in seconds, so it’s no wonder Taylor Swift landed at the top of Billboard’s 2015 Top Money-Makers. (To save you from having to do that math, Chesney earned $39.8 million.) Yeah, no one even stood a chance.
Tay earned $73.5 million (approximately $98.3 million AUD) in revenue total: $7.2 million (approximately $9.6 million AUD) from sales, $564,000 (approximately $754,000 AUD) from streaming, and $4.1 million from publishing royalties, on top of the $61.7 million she raked in from her tour.
Artists likely to hit top slots on next year’s report include Rihanna, Drake, Beyonce, Radiohead, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers, all of whom have either already released new material in 2016 or are about to, and who have all planned big worldwide tours in support of their new music. In 2014 also claimed the top spot, making a huge leap from the year prior when she ranked 15th. Perhaps the British star has the potential to climb the list for next year.
Adele’s 25 blew away every other artist on the list in terms of album sales, with an estimated $16 million coming in just from the release of 25 last fall.

Taylor Swift had a good year in 2015, but that’s probably stating the obvious.
