Dems hope state conventions can unite Sanders, Clinton fans
He is running short on cash.

Florida Democrats on Saturday will choose most of the delegates that the state will send to the Democratic National Convention in July.
Clinton’s swing through California began in the morning with a stop at the California African American Museum, where she was joined by Los Angeles City Councilman Herb Wesson and Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey, who is seeking re-election for a second term. Its media markets are some of the most costly in the world, and candidates who try to sidestep big ad buys typically fail to convey their message to key segments of the electorate.
Rep. Raul Grijalva, Sanders’ first congressional endorser, said if Sanders were to drop out now, he would leave a large chunk of the Democratic base feeling like they don’t have a home in the Democratic Party.
Sanders has won 18 states, and is likely to win at least a handful more before the end of the Democratic primaries; that’s a remarkable feat for an insurgent candidate few had heard of a year ago. Clinton and many of her supporters have been beyond dismissive of Sanders and his.
Clinton’s appearance at the college also represents a bid to lift her appeal with younger voters, who have strongly rallied behind Sanders’ insurgent campaign. “She’s got all the qualifications and she brings a lot to the table”.
“Who’s supporting Bernie Sanders?” a woman on a megaphone yelled to protesters.
But she said she and Sanders have the same goals. “You’ve got a narrative out there that Bernie can’t win, Bernie can’t win”.
On Friday afternoon, convention participants will have the opportunity to sit in on one of a half dozen workshops dedicated to specific policy issues.
The drive to unite the Democratic Party is happening as the Republican presidential picture has come into focus. That’s why she’s ahead of Sanders. He took 16 pledged delegates to Clinton’s nine.
And he is right, the only way Sanders has a chance is if the FBI quickly wraps up their investigation and levels charges against the presidential hopeful or her aides. In a closed election (only Democrats), Hillary Clinton wins. “We’re going to be campaigning up and down the Golden State”. Campaign officials were cagey about their spending plans in California.
The Vermont independent senator also stressed that he thinks he can still win, despite Clinton’s massive delegate lead. Meanwhile, they’ve pulled resources away from the primary to devote to the general election, and have already been engaging consistently with Trump.
Additionally, representatives for the two Democratic presidential candidates – Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders – will speak. “But Oregon, West Virginia, Kentucky – we’re looking forward to working well with them”. A big ingredient of the Sanders surge has been blanketing the airwaves. Rent alone costs the campaign tens of thousands of dollars for each venue.
And history suggests it is unlikely that fundraising for Sanders is going to bounce back to where it was.
At a time when many Democrats are chomping at the bit for Sanders to step aside, Clinton is sanguine.

But unlike his opponent, whatever Sanders has in the bank once June rolls around, he is nearly certain to spend in California. “There’s nothing to save it for after this”.
