Truex turned a lap of 190.921 miles per hour in the final round of qualifying Friday night, earning his first pole since April 2012 at Texas and giving himself some confidence at a track he’s come to love.
Truex’s one-car Furniture Row Racing team has a technical alliance with Kenseth’s four-car Joe Gibbs Racing powerhouse.
Truex is the seventh different pole victor in 11 NASCAR Sprint Cup races in 2016. The GoBowling.com 400 takes place Saturday at 7:46PM ET from Kansas Speedway at Kansas City, KS.
Last year’s race seemed typical of many recent editions: The race had no cautions (aside from the segment breaks) and Denny Hamlin led every lap of the final segment.
“The people here are much more family-oriented than the last couple of races we’ve been to”, Pearo said. He missed this race previous year due to injury and it was the final event he sat out before going on his championship winning tear. This weekend will be a tell tale sign as Kahne enters the weekend four points behind the cutoff position now held by Trevor Bayne.
“We appreciate, respect and support everything Goodyear does to provide the best racing in NASCAR”, MIS President Roger Curtis said in a release.
The native of Columbia, Missouri, considers Kansas Speedway his home track, yet Edwards has never won here in a Sprint Cup race.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Jimmie Johnson is favored to win the race, as he has 9/2 odds. He’s posted a top-five finish in 12 of his last 14 races dating back to 2015 and has placed worse than second just once in his last five starts. Rumors had swirled of changes with the format remaining undetermined with just two weeks to go, and those proved true in an effort to shake up the race and bring more excitement to the finish.
The defending NSCS champion has struggled at Kansas throughout his career, posting a 20.4 average finish in 16 starts at the 1.5-mile track. He has two wins, six Top 5s and nine Top 10s in 19 career starts at Kansas with a 15.6 AFP.

“And if they can figure out a way to capture more of that, particularly with the television audience, I think we will be going in the right direction”. “So, I’m still confident about are racecar in race trim”. I don’t know if that makes sense to someone who’s not a race vehicle driver, but you want it to be hard, because all the guys in the garage think they’re the best driver in the garage.
