Real Madrid beat AC Milan 10-9 on penalties

REAL MADRID HAD goalkeeper Kiko Casilla to thank for today’s worldwide Champions Cup win over AC Milan in Shanghai. Then the goalkeeper took centre-stage in Thursday’s triumph over AC Milan, a 10-9 win on penalties after both sides failed to score in normal time.

The game died down substantially in the last 10 minutes and no goals for either Milan or Real saw the game end in a draw, with the victor of the match to be decided on penalties.

Casilla went on to add that the team needs to continue building upon the progress they’ve made over these past several weeks and promises to do everything in his power to help the team, whether it’s as a start or not.

Milan finished the first-half in Real’s box, with another long range effort from Niang forcing Keylor Navas into making a save, although he always look comfortable in keeping the ball out. Real Madrid had started the match without the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and James Rodriguez.

AC Milan’s official Twitter account labelled the gesture as a “special birthday surprise” which presumably eased the Rossoneri’s penalty shootout loss to the La Liga club.

The Portugal star smiled for a selfie on the plane with defenders Pepe and Marcelo before posting another snap of himself eating at home with the caption: ‘I was missing my home food!!’.

The arrivals of Carlos Bacca, Luiz Adriano and Andrea Bertolacci brought much needed firepower to the squad, but it was Philippe Mexes goal that ensured them a victory in their first worldwide Champions Cup match against bitter rivals Inter.

Milan, meanwhile, have three changes in their side.
