John Kasich to suspend presidential campaign, report

Trump’s challenge in uniting Republicans was abundantly clear Wednesday.

“I’ve thought a lot”, said Former Senate Republican Majority Leader Trent Lott.

Kasich thus follows the lead of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, citing the necessity to deny Trump the presidency. A first-time candidate, he eschewed traditional fundraising and relied more on his own star power than television advertising to draw attention.

The highly unusual salvos between the likely White House nominee and the House speaker came at a moment when all involved would normally be turning from the intraparty warfare of the primaries to unifying the party for November’s elections. I mean there is – there is a real – yeah it is a crisis we’re going through.

There are a number of ways that the Democratic party is split demographically in the race to pick a nominee.

There are plenty of former Cruz supporters eager to urge Gilbertson to climb aboard the Trump train, and eager to instill more enthusiasm among those like Brown. That seems unlikely. But her strength among the Obama coalition, coupled with Trump’s (relative) weakness among white voters, could give her an unexpected electoral boost and add to Trump’s already long to-do list.

Brown is hardly the only Republican wringing her hands.

Ryan, R-Wis., and McConnell have criticized Trump’s comments. The senior SC senator told CNN’s Dana Bash Friday: “I don’t think he’s a reliable Republican conservative”.

His father, former president George HW Bush, also has not been heard from since Mr Trump’s string of victories in the north-east primaries and Indiana. And a spokesman for Bush’s father said simply, “At age 91, President Bush is retired from politics”.

Support for Trump among Republicans nationally jumped in recent weeks to the highest level of the primary campaign, according to Reuters/Ipsos polling.

So what does a Trump versus Clinton match-up look like? It may have been a more effective tactic for dealing with his rivals – Trump frequently referring to Kasich as “a nice guy”, while lashing out at Cruz with names like “Lyin’ Ted”.

While in the office of Secretary of State, she was blasted for alleged incompetence – critics called it negligence – for not providing better security for the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, resulting in the 2012 terrorist attack that killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens. “And, he is not a consistent conservative”, he wrote, calling Clinton “untrustworthy”. Heading into Tuesday’s voting, Clinton had 92 percent of the delegates she needs.

In contrast, Democrats were eager to link GOP congressional candidates to their party’s presumptive presidential nominee.

Mrs Clinton warned the United States should not take a risk on an unreliable candidate like Mr Trump.

Another longstanding Trump critic, South Carolina Republican Sen.

I agree that Republicans partly brought Trump on themselves.

“I hope to support our nominee …”

Mississippi Republican Party Chairman Joe Nosef said he’s glad they’ve eliminated the possibility of a contested national convention.
