Trump eyes general election amid Republican backlash

WASHINGTON (CNN) – A national spokesperson for Donald Trump’s campaign said Friday that if House Speaker Paul Ryan can’t come around to supporting Trump as the Republican presidential nominee, he’s no longer fit to hold his current position.

“I think there needs to be a great effort on the part of Donald Trump as well as the Republican Party to come together and start talking about what goals they would have in his administration and it has to be a cohesive message”, said Ernst.

The apparent animosity between the Republican nominee and the top GOP office-holder in the country got party leaders working like mad to mend a possibly catastrophic break. He said she represents a third term for President Barack Obama. “Many people aren’t sure what the Trump agenda is yet”.

Mnuchin anticipated that roughly 30 staffers would end up devoted to fundraising for the campaign and party.

Paul Ryan (left) in an interview to CNN said, “I’m just not ready to do that at this point”.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee said his son Eric told him not to respond to De La Hoya’s charges that he cheated on two different holes two years ago at Trump National golf course in Los Angeles.

Paul Singer, a major funder of Senate races, “was “Never Trump” yesterday and is “Never Trump” today”, a person briefed on his thinking said Wednesday.

He added: “If we don’t unify all wings of the party, we’re not going to win this election”.

While Blunt has hedged on his support for Trump, Kander has wholeheartedly embraced his party’s likely nominee, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. If not, Ryan, who last month delivered a Sherman-esque statement that he would not seek the nomination in 2016, might turn his gaze to the 2020 race.

Some Republican lawmakers worry that Trump is not conservative enough; others are more bothered by Trump’s “divisive, incendiary remarks and lack of substance”, said Dent, who put himself in the latter category. “I just think you always run like everything’s on the line”.

Allen pressed Priebus on the Muslim ban, and the RNC chair indicated that he believes Trump can be persuaded to change his mind on some of his more controversial stances.

Former President George H.W. Bush and former President George W. Bush have said they will not endorse Trump, who savagely criticized the candidacy of George W. Bush’s brother, Jeb, and criticized George W. Bush’s decision to invade Iraq.

Trump is at heart a protectionist who wants to impose trade tariffs, renegotiate NAFTA and who has lined up with the blue collar workers of “Main Street” against Wall Street.

Aides to McConnell declined Thursday to say whether any such meeting with Trump would occur among Senate Republicans.

Trump has also received a cool reception from the 2012 GOP standard-bearer, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, whose vice presidential running mate was Ryan, and from former President George W. Bush. “One of the things both of them get is that without a unified party, we give a big hand up to Hillary Clinton”.

Priebus said that Trump could calm fears from conservatives by releasing a short list of names to be Supreme Court nominees, suggesting that focusing on appointing a conservative to the bench would help unite the party around Trump. He also hired a campaign finance director Thursday.

Mnuchin is chairman and chief executive officer of Dune Capital management LLC, a private investment firm, and previously worked at the NY bank Goldman Sachs.
