MLS offers Didier Drogba a contract, Chicago Fire in front
Earlier this week, the Daily Mail and Daily Star identified the likes of Orlando City South Carolina and New York City South Carolina as other potential suitors, but in an article published by ESPN FC’s Jeff Carlisle, Drogba was offered a contract on Friday to play in Major League Soccer, with the possibility of receiving a response as early as this weekend.

According to the report, there are several MLS teams in the mix to land the striker, with Chicago making the strongest push among those teams.
Drogba has been a free agent since his contract with the English Premier League champions expired.
According to reports, the Fire are prepared to offer the 37-year-old an 18-month contract worth around $2.5 million per year.
However, Chicago has three Designated Players on the roster.
But he started just 12 of those matches as Diego Costa was manager Jose Mourinho’s preferred option up top.
Drogba departed Chelsea in 2012 after eight years in London for China’s Shanghai squad and later joined Turkey’s Galatasaray before rejoining Chelsea last season.
Despite this, he managed to net four goals and register one assist – although he did have the lowest shot accuracy of any Chelsea striker last season with 36% – as the West London club marched to the Premier League trophy.

At worldwide level, Drogba is the Ivory Coast’s all-time leading scorer with 65 goals, and his 104 appearances rank third behind Kolo Toure’s 108 and Didier Zokora’s 123.
