Thursday, police said Tordil shot and killed his estranged wife, 44-year-old Gladys Tordil, in the parking lot of High Point High School in Prince George’s County.

Tordil is said to have struck again in Bethseda, Md., killing one and injuring two others outside the Montgomery Mall around 11 a.m. on Friday, before killing a woman outside a Giant grocery store 20 minutes’ drive away.
Instead, Tordil will have to answer in court for the string of carnage attributed to him: three people dead and another three wounded in roughly 20 hours. The first shooting occurred May 5 at a high school.
Montgomery County Police Chief Thomas Manger said officers kept their distance, hoping to avoid a gunfight.
Police found Tordil a few thousand feet away from where he allegedly shot the woman. He was placed on administrative duties in March after a protective order was issued against him, the FPS said.
The protective service said Tordil’s weapon, badge and credentials were taken when he was placed on leave.
In the protective order, Gladys Tordil said Eulalio, an employee of the Federal Protective Service, subjected their children to “intense-military-like discipline”, like pushups and detention in a dark closet. He says there’s no reason to believe the victims knew the shooter.
After the shootings on Friday, police located Tordil and had him under surveillance as he visited several businesses and had lunch in the shopping centre before subduing him in the parking lot. One person was shot and two others may have been shot coming to that person’s aid, he said.
All schools in Montgomery County are sheltering in place at the request of police, county schools officials said in a statement. Police later tweeted that the woman has died.

After the shootings, police said they were looking into the possibility that all three shootings were connected.
