Oregon Republicans react to Trump’s likely nomination

“I can no more vote for Trump than I can vote for his good friend Hillary”.

Sanders has consistently polled even better against Trump than has Clinton.

“The spirit, the essence of America lies in the hearts and souls of us”, Kasich said during a 20-minute speech in Columbus, Ohio, announcing his withdrawal.

Given that most Democrats are already unlikely to vote for Trump and some Republicans have even said they’d vote for Clinton if Trump were the alternative, Clinton may be trying to appeal to her less likely supporters: those from the opposing party.

Kasich’s decision came after he improbably became the last challenger to Donald Trump, who emerged as the presumptive GOP nominee Tuesday night when Ted Cruz dropped out.

The former secretary of state, however, suffered a shock loss in IN to her challenger Bernie Sanders, who has pledged to remain in the race until the end in spite of an extremely steep hill to climb. That clears the path for Trump, a nominal Presbyterian who has had difficulty pronouncing a book of the Bible, to be the GOP nominee.

Trump and his aides have also suggested that he would begin acting more “presidential” after he defeats his primary opponents – but Trump previewed few changes in that regard Wednesday.

The surprise declaration from Ryan on CNN’s “The Lead” amounted to a stunning rebuke of Trump from the Republican Party’s highest-ranking officeholder. An NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll showed the pact was largely unpopular among GOP primary voters.

“I mean, do I want to sell a couple of buildings and self-fund?” I think that’s just downright unsafe.

“I’m not going to be voting this year”, he said. The rookie Nebraska lawmaker says he’ll seek another candidate to back – aside from Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Trump did not back away from his proposal to temporarily ban all foreign Muslims from entering the US, but said he would work with Muslim countries in the fight against terrorism – but put the onus on those countries first.

“Mr. Trump would need someone to help govern in Washington, DC”, Lewandowski said.

Trump also argued against a proposal for the federal government to bail out Puerto Rico, the USA territory that is suffering a crippling debt crisis.

“I’m the king of debt”. “They changed me with the stories of their lives”. “The problem with Puerto Rico is they have far too much debt”.

Knocking the 2012 convention as the “lowest-rated convention in the history of conventions”, Trump said he would “like to add something that would make people happy”.

In addition to openly trashing the very same donors he needs, Trump never built a traditional fundraising operation with a finance team that can fan out across the country and raise quick cash for his bid. “People are very depressed”. This might have been one factor that made him less popular amongst Republicans as a choice for the White House.
