Ryan Kerrigan signs 5-yr extension with the Redskins

As Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post relayed Wednesday, the team wrote in a recent report that there were “7,845,460,401 unique visitors of print/online coverage of the 2014 Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Camp from July 24-Aug. 12”.

“It feels great, because a lot of players always talk about what happens if you get to free agency and whatnot”, Kerrigan said.

Ryan Kerrigan Signs Extension; Trent Williams Next? The new contract, reportedly a human being with knowledge of the terms, extends Kerrigan another five years of time and will make him the NFL’s third-highest paid linebacker, behind Kansas City’s Justin Houston and Clay Matthews of Green Bay.

The UVa product was among the list of players medically cleared for camp, head coach Jay Gruden announced Wednesday afternoon. “Now it’s my job to go reward the Redskins for the faith they put in me by playing well this year, and for the rest of my career”.

Last year, he had a career-high 13.5 sacks.

Washington selected Kerrigan during the first round of the 2011 draft, and the former Purdue Boilermaker has not missed a start for the Redskins since. Whether Kerrigan will be among the players practicing fully, however, remains to be seen.

“He’s a guy that plays every down”, Gruden said.

Kerrigan underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in the offseason and was forced to sit out offseason workouts and minicamp.

Gruden said he wants to hear the Redskins fans even louder this year at training camp.

“I think more than anything it’s awesome, the vote of confidence that the Redskins have put in me”, Kerrigan said of his contract extension. “We’ve got a lot of of making up to do for the last couple years”. “He’s going to work hard no matter what the contract situation is, I know it. We’ll let that work out”.
