Patriots long snapper Joe Cardona could miss year due to Navy service

Mabus spoke on the Dan Patrick Show to address 2016 draftee and Navy graduate Keenan Reynolds and whether or not he’d be able to play in the National Football League this season.

Adam Jones called the Patriots’ selection of Cardona, 166th overall in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, “the biggest waste of a pick Bill [Belichick]’s ever had”, adding: “It’s not his worst pick”.

“It’s different; it’s something you’ve got to get used to”, said Reynolds, whose only reception at Navy came in a 44-28 Military Bowl win against Pittsburgh this past season. “I’m not going to let him get out of here without not talking about it”, Dixon said.

Reynolds, instead will wear No. 6 as he competes at a position where the Ravens are particularly youthful.

Reynolds said he doesn’t have a preference between receiver and running back. “I love overcoming challenges and just looking forward to learning with the team and continuing to grow as a receiver”.

Keenan Reynolds didn’t have much notice when he found out for sure that National Football League teams didn’t want him to play quarterback anymore. Naval Academy or NROTC graduates with unique talents may apply for release from active duty after serving for a minimum of 24 months of their current period of obligated service if there is an expectation they will provide the Navy with significant favorable media exposure likely to enhance national recruiting or public affairs efforts.

“[Mitchell has helped] tremendously”, Reynolds said. Reynolds was told he could also be auditioned returning punts, an area in which Randle-El and Edelman excelled. Reynolds had 88, one more than Dixon.

Happy homecoming: Free-agent cornerback Donovan Riley is hoping to catch on with the team he has long rooted for and get a chance to play in a stadium where he has only known success.

Riley said that he has followed the Ravens for years. If he has to do that next year, he could end up missing the season.

Before the rookie wage scale went into effect, Ravens first-round picks usually signed five-year contracts, with second-rounders getting four-year deals and everyone else signing up for three years.
