Harris Teeter Recalls 2 Varieties of Frozen Vegetables
Although CRF listed Organic Corn as a potential host to the Listeria bacteria, Mochizuki said it wasn’t among the five items affected. The manufacturer CRF Frozen Foods has voluntarily recalled almost 360 non-organic frozen fruits and vegetables sold under 42 different brand names for fear of contamination.

Craig Wilson, vice president of food safety for Costco, said that the withdrawn products have printed “sell-by dates” from April 26, 2016, to April 26, 2018. Throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
There have however, been reported illnesses in the United States linked to consuming products manufactured or processed by the same supplier, CRF Frozen Foods. Harris Teeter asks customers who purchased the products containing the UPC’s mentioned between October 19, 2015 and December 24, 2015 to please not consume the products. The company says it suspended operations at the Pasco plant on April 25 “so a thorough review could be conducted”. The recall involved 33,610 pounds of Trader Joe’s product. However, it could sometimes be fatal for children, the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. This week, CRF recalled all its products, shipped nationwide and to Canada.
Frozen food giant CRF is now pulling out 382 of its food items off the shelf after Listeria outbreak caused several people to be hospitalized.
Harris Teeter is recalling two varieties of frozen vegetables because they could be contaminated with Listeria.
Whole genome sequencing showed that the Listeria monocytogenes isolate from the frozen corn was closely related genetically to seven bacterial isolates from ill people, and the Listeria monocytogenes isolate from the frozen peas was closely related genetically to one isolate from an ill person. After the detection, the Oregon Potato Company also recalled its wholesale onion products and others companies who use these products also issued a separate recall. We are issuing this release to alert consumers not to eat these products.
Listeria is caused by eating food contaminated with the Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. Two people have died. Of common foodborne pathogens, it’s less common but more lethal: Each year listeriosis causes around 1600 illnesses and 260 deaths in the USA, according to the CDC.
