Arsenal can still dream about finishing second in the Premer League ahead of north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur after the penultimate round of Premier League matches on Sunday.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino played down the need for Spurs to compare themselves with north London rivals Arsenal after defeat to former club Southampton ensured the fight for second place will go down to the wire.

Tottenham are going to finish either in second or third in the table this season. “We need to start to think like a big club, not worrying about what’s happening in another house”.

“We all knew the Spurs result (before the City game) and of course that motivates us”.

Southampton had travelled in fine form, with five wins from their past seven games, and they equalised in the 31st minute, when Davis’ first-time finish deceived Lloris.

“As a player, these are the games you want to be involved in”, said Wilshere, quoted by Arsenal’s official website.

“We equalised and maybe if we’d taken another chance, we might have nicked it”. “It is in our hands, we just have to win at Newcastle and then it’s job done”.

“We have matched last season’s pointstally”, Davis, the Northern Ireland midfielder, said. It does not matter if it is Southampton, Arsenal or Chelsea, we want to win, we want to be above them and now we are the same next season too.

They are three points clear of fourth-placed City and five better off than Manchester United, who are fifth having played a game less than the sides above them.

Allen and Christian Benteke, who have struggled to secure first-team spots this season, combined well for the opener after 35 minutes when the Welshman burst on to the striker’s knockdown.

“Not just me – we all have to be stronger next season”.

A win or draw for Southampton in their final match against Crystal Palace will see the Saints break their record points tally – now 60.

Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-Min Son wants his side to think about football throughout their summer break in order to come back firing on all cylinders next season.

“Everybody loves playing for him, hopefully we can keep him and keep the squad together and go again”. “The last few weeks have been tough, (but) we are still in a great position”.
