WASHINGTON (AP) For Donald Trump, party unity is a good thing. “I thought at least there would be a small congratulations, but I’m not surprised with CNN because that’s the way they treat Trump”, the presumptive GOP nominee said when Cuomo attempted to start the interview with a policy question.
Some Republican leaders, including Senate Majority Mitch McConnell, have offered grudging support for Trump, while others such as the Bush family have refused to endorse the candidate.
Trump, a real estate billionaire from NY and the only candidate left in the Republican race to the White House, is likely to face Clinton, who has made NY her adopted state, in the November general elections.
But to Trump supporters like adviser Paul Manafort, shrugging off hostility from party insiders is something Mr Trump can afford to do.
Is the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party casually lying about complimentary phone calls to make his fellow Republicans look bad or is he getting prank calls?
“I’m going to let him run his campaign however he chooses”, said Clinton.
“When he says, “women should be punished for having abortions”, what does that mean?”
Trump responded in a statement, “I am not ready to support Speaker Ryan’s agenda”.
Donald Trump seemed at the weekend to call for a higher minimum wage, and acknowledged that the position was a “change” for him, but he also said he favors abolishing the federal minimum wage.
Invoking the Monica Lewinsky affair, Trump said Bill Clinton “was impeached!”
“This phenomenon is called negative partisanship”, Sabato said.
“I have nothing to say about him and how he’s running his campaign”, Clinton said, adding when pressed, “I’ve been clear that a lot of his rhetoric is risky”.

Mr Trump has broken party lines with his more moderate stances on issues like Planned Parenthood and has even spoken against sweeping anti-LGBT laws in North Carolina, saying transgender people should be able to use “any bathroom they want”.
