Germany: up to 5 Wounded in Stabbing at Train Station

German police say a man has been arrested after stabbing several people at a suburban train station at Grafing, close to Munich, early Tuesday morning.

The radio cited witnesses who claimed the man had shouted “Allahu Akbar”, which means “God is great” in Arabic, as he lurched into the crowd.

The attacker was eventually overpowered by police.

The incident happened in Grafing, east of Munich, shortly before 5 a.m. (11 p.m. ET Monday).

Police said four passengers, believed to all be men, were hurt, two seriouly and one left in a critical condition.

At least one platform at the station was expected to remain closed through midday, and there were some delays, railway operator Deutsche Bahn said. Munich’s Merkur newspaper reported that the suspect was from an immigrant background.
