A curious photo peeked out from under a pile of newspapers in Donald Trump’s Cinco de Mayo tweet – an image from 1985 showing his former wife, Marla Maples, in a bikini.
Extending an apparent olive branch, the billionaire businessman has now said he “loves Hispanics” and employs many of them. “I love inauthentic Mexican food!”
Donald Trump said his lunch, a taco bowl from the cafe in his Manhattan building, was his way of celebrating Cinco de Mayo.
As USA Today also points out, the problem with using this picture, other than the rather ham-handed approach, taco bowls which are otherwise known as Taco salads are a dish which originated in the United States.
The photo, which included “I love Hispanics!” in the caption, drew criticism from some – including Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton, who noted his calls to deport undocumented immigrants.
The Latino Victory Fund, a left-leaning political group, released a statement that said “Donald Trump is doubling down on his racist, anti-immigrant, anti-Latino and anti-Mexican rhetoric”.
Ms Clinton was heckled by some protesters at the Cinco de Mayo event at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, California, prompting the crowd to chant her name.
Delving into the culinary world which brought us the short-lived “Trump Steaks” and various other endeavours, food critic Robert Sietsema chose to review a few of the foods served up in the world of Trump.
“Well first of all, I’ll have you know that Donald Trump has never been to Iguana Mia”, said Ricky Rambissoon, one of Iguana Mia’s managers.
“I think it is down in Juarez”.
“Trump Tower Grill” began trending on the microblogging platform after Trump’s tweet, as social media users weighed in on the post. As those lovable Hispanics might say.

Let’s have Trump’s words speak for themselves. Among the comedians joining in on the joke was Josh Gad who thought it was only a matter of time before Trump was going after the Muslim vote in much the same way as he had the Hispanic vote.
