Stephen Curry named MVP for second straight season

Curry, the reigning league Most Valuable Player, hasn’t played since spraining a ligament in his right knee in the fourth game of the Warriors’ first-round playoff series win over the Houston Rockets.

Al-Farouq Aminu made his first eight shots and scored 23 points for the fifth-seeded Trail Blazers, who lost the first two games on the road but bounced back with their best offensive performance of the postseason. They led 58-46 at half-time and stretched the advantage to as many as 20 points late on.

Aminu was eight-for-nine from the field, making four three-pointers for a Blazers team that withstood a career playoff-high of 37 points from Golden State’s Draymond Green, who also pulled down nine rebounds and dished out eight assists.

Following the Warriors’ Game 3 loss to the Trail Blazers, Green said Portland had “doubt” at one point in the game.

The Portland Trail Blazers worked their way back into their National Basketball Association play-off series against the Golden State Warriors with a 120-108 win in game three.

“The trainers would have to tell me that he’s good to go, Steph would have to say he’s good to go, and then we would have to figure out a plan from there”, Kerr said.

Kerr acknowledged the Warriors probably would place Curry on a minutes restriction if he does play Monday night, given his anticipated conditioning issues. The Blazers shot 4-of-6 when uncontested, including 4-of-4 on 3-pointers.

NOTES: Curry missed his fourth straight playoff game because of a sprained right knee.

There should be a much more definitive approach to the defensive side of the ball in Game 4 on Monday night.

“We let him get too many rhythm threes off the catch tonight and off the ball screens because that’s where he’s deadly”, Thompson said.

In a game in which both starting centres did not return after sustaining leg injuries, Kyle Lowry scored 33 points as the Toronto Raptors defeated the Miami Heat 95-91 on Saturday in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Australian centre Bogut started the game strongly and continued his series dominance over Portland big man Mason Plumlee, blocking two of his layups in a two minute period in the first quarter.

The Blazers’ win cut the Warriors’ lead in the series to 2-1.

It’s not every game, of course, or even every playoff game, but it was this playoff game, against this opponent, in this arena, and specifically this time. All that’s cute. But I didn’t do what I do for this team.

It remains to be seen if Curry will play in Game 4 against the Trail Blazers.

“I imagine that’s coming soon”, Kerr said.
