Twelve hours after shredding the Blazers playoff hopes and dreams, Steph Curry has been announced as league MVP for a second consecutive season.

Stephen Curry, who will officially be crowned National Basketball Association most valuable player Tuesday, returned to action for the first time since April 24 and added to the big book of fairy tales that has become his career.

Curry finished the game with 40 points, nine rebounds and eight assists and showed visible rust early, missing his first nine threes, after being out with a knee injury the first three games of the series.

The Warriors look to close out Portland in Game 5 Wednesday night at Oracle Arena.

“The guy has basically played one game in three weeks”, Golden State coach Steve Kerr said. He air balled a shot, which I didn’t think was possible.

“The reason Steph is as good as he is because he can score from anywhere”, Kerr said. And then he got going. “I was amazed at his conditioning”. The two-shoe collection features a re-release of the MVP colorway of his first signature shoe, the Curry One, and a new MVP colorway of his latest signature shoe, the Curry Two. He made tough shots, he made nice passes, he fought through screens.

Wade scored 30 points as the Heat rallied from a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter. “I figured he’d find his stroke and make a few shots but that was… that was insane”.

And in the extra session – Curry is out in front of the crowd and he puts the Golden State in front. They carried an 86-85 edge into the final period. Now, all that matters to Curry is staying healthy to lead the Warriors to another title.

The Trail Blazers led by as many as 16 points after McCollum scored five straight points, but then Curry started shooting. Lillard answered with a jumper to make it 109-106 with 1:47 remaining. Curry and Lillard are different players, to be sure, but comparisons are unavoidable. The Warriors rebounded and didn’t call for a timeout. Is it possible the worst thing to happen to the Blazers is that Shaun Livingston got ejected? They have won games by playing as a team without him. “We were right there. I’m a little bit winded, but it’s nice to get a win”. “We’ll take those all day”.

Damian Lillard had 36 points and 10 assists in a stellar effort that ended with the champions getting their historic season back on schedule. He was 3-for-18 from the field after three quarters….

NOTES: Golden State still has not lost back-to-back games all season.
