Play called off in Bangladesh-South Africa Test

Mushfiqur Rahim scored the lone half-century for Bangladesh and was involved in a 94-run partnership with Mahmudullah for the fourth wicket, but with Steyn claiming 3 for 30 and Duminy taking 3 for 27, Bangladesh was restricted to 246 for 8 at stumps.

The first Test ended in a draw in Chittagong after rain washed out play on the last two days.

South Africa: Dean Elgar, Stiaan van Zyl, Faf du Plessis, Hashim Amla, Temba Bavuma, Jean-Paul Duminy, Dane Vilas, Vernon Philander, Simon Harmer, Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel.

“It’s a mix of different emotions really”, said Steyn, who was wearing a Dennis Lillee-style headband on the field after growing his hair long.

Nobody on the list of bowlers to take 400 wickets has a strike rate anywhere near as good as Steyn’s.

“It’s enough to play and take wickets for South Africa and then I managed to get 400″.

“I think I have taken a few abuse about my hair. That doesn’t influence my bowling at all”.

Steyn’s strike rate when he took his 400th wicket, the best among bowlers with 200 or more wickets in Tests.

“We have been incredibly fortunate in the quality of the leaders of our attack we have had since unity, starting with Allan Donald and followed by Shaun Pollock, Makhaya Ntini and now Dale, all of whom have taken more than 300 wickets”.

Steyn can also boast the fact he has more wickets on the subcontinent than any other bowler from outside the area.
