The Congress’ victory in the floor test in the Uttarakhand legislature paves the way for scrapping President’s rule, return of Harish Rawat as chief minister, and the sacking of nine MLAs who had defected from the party on whose platform they got elected in the first place.
The Rawat government was pushed into a crisis when nine legislators of the ruling Congress rebelled against his leadership in early March.
BSP on Tuesday denied the suggestion that its rescue act for Congress in Uttarakhand could be a precursor to an alliance between the two for the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
“I will continue my fight against Harish Rawat, who has been indulging in corruption”, Harak Singh Rawat told the media after the floor test held in the state assembly on the orders of the Supreme Court.
The child bride has finally got his due and trust of his party to emerge as the undisputed leader of the party in Uttarakhand.
The Principal Secretary (Legislative Assembly and Parliamentary Affairs) of th Uttarakhand government oversaw the exercise, as directed by the apex court. “We supported Congress only because we could not have helped BJP in the trial of strength”.
Bisht is purported to have said in the video that Harish Rawat was giving the money he had earned from mining to his MLAs to keep his flock together.
This would mean that the floor test scheduled for tomorrow will happen without the 9 MLAs.
“Today, it appears, a central minister is even above Supreme Court and the constitution”, Congress member Gaurav Gogoi said in Lok Sabha while participating in the debate on the Uttarakhand budget.
The Samajwadi Party and AAP also welcomed the result of the floor test and claimed that it was a “huge setback” for the central government.
Using words that made it very clear that he had won, he said: “Uttarakhand will be victorious tomorrow (Wednesday)”.

“BJP must apologize to the Nation”, he said. “Hope they will stop toppling Govts now”, Kejriwal tweeted. As a party that insists on “cooperative federalism”, BJP must resist the temptation to use the sledgehammer of President’s rule to grab power in states. “BSP has stood by our side since 2012 and they are still supporting us”, the former CM added.
