The Woods Trailer: Adam Wingard’s Latest Takes You Deep in the Trees

Lionsgate has officially released the trailer for The Woods, the latest horror film from director Adam Wingard. Fangoria’s Sam Zimmerman called it “spooky af”, while critic Jen Yamato said it will “blow minds.”Time Out New York’s Joshua Rothkopf said it had “moments that made me want to yank out my hair”.

Judging by the film’s first trailer, The Woods looks like it’ll create its own unique identity by taking the best parts of the twisted genres in which Wingard has participated. That’s their message. Are you courageous enough to learn for yourself?

Whether the trailer does anything for you or not, you have to admire the nerve of how it’s constructed. They are not alone.

Director Adam Wingard is already well regarded for his work on V/H/S, The Guest and You’re Next, so you know this is going to be insanely bone-chilling.

The movie’s already got a heap of accolades from respected horror movie reviewers and with a back catalog like theirs, The Woods is in good company.

Based on the filmmakers’ track record (you should really check out The Guest in particular) and the buzz I’ve heard so far, I’m ready to venture into The Woods when it comes out on September 16. You can check out the poster for the film below. If things go according to plan, this will be a huge year for Wingard, with Outcast arriving on television, The Woods hitting theaters, and production presumably starting on Death Note in a few months.
