Further users of the app will find that iconic passages from the books which relate to the HBO TV show can be read without stumbling on possible spoilers.

HarperCollins is hoping to appeal to the casual reader by launching a new Game of Thrones app for iOS.

Simply select which books from the series you’ve read and how many seasons of the show you’ve watched and the app will automatically filter out spoiler filled content from your searches.

It’s free to download and Martin and fans of the series have had input into its workings so you can be sure it’s pretty comprehensive.

You can also browse material by theme or character, and passages include maps of lands and kingdoms to add spacial context to the text. If they’ve already watched the show, curious fans may still be interested in checking out how an event like the Red Wedding went down in the books.
