Best Buy will put the Apple Watch on sale starting on August 7, making it the first United States chain to market the smartwatch, besides Apple stores.

Best Buy Canada on Thursday informed local website MobileSyrup to expect Apple Watch to be sold at 50 brick-and-mortar stores across Canada, as well as online, on August 14.

The Apple Watch is heading to some Best Buy stores ahead of the holiday shopping season.

In addition, Apple despatched us the following assertion: “Customers love Apple Watch, and we’re thrilled to start providing it at Best Buy places throughout Canada beginning…” And given Best Buy’s impressive foot traffic, it stands to reason that Apple Watch sales will only continue to climb in the coming months.

The Apple Watch features fitness tracking apps and other health-related devices for those who wish to monitor their exercise and diet routines more efficiently. That said, let’s remember that Apple Watches are nearly immaterial to the company’s overall financial performance. For one, the hype about how the Apple Watch will be sold didn’t make it look as if it would be sold by mass-market retailers.

We asked Roger Entner, principal analyst at Recon Analytics, for his thoughts on the impact of the Best Buy move.

“This is the important question: Is supply catching up with demand because demand is slipping or because production is expanding?” “For the holiday season, this is definitely a big plus for Apple”.

Sales figures for the Apple Watch haven’t been made public by the tech giant yet, so its hard to understand how well its wearable device is selling.
