McGrady: Curry’s unanimous MVP shows how ‘watered down’ National Basketball Association is

The 28-year-old Curry also became the 11th player to win back-to-back MVP awards in National Basketball Association history.

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has been recognised as the NBA MVP for the second straight year and the first unanimous victor in league history. Curry received 1,310 points from the 130 media voters from the US and Canada.

“I looked at the list of everybody who has won an MVP before, and they’re legends”, Curry said.

San Antonio Spurs’ Kawhi Leonard finished second after Curry pushing LeBron James to third position. In 2000, the Lakers’ Shaquille O’Neal received 120 out of 121 possible first-place votes.

Needing one more win to break the record for most regular season victories ever – 72, set by the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls – Curry goes out and sinks 10 three-pointers. He also led the National Basketball Association scoring charts with an average 30.1 points per game and extended his own record for scoring at least one three-pointer in consecutive games to 152.

“I’m out here playing the game and doing what I love to do and what I’ve been blessed to do and given the talents to do”. I didn’t know how to describe that. And it’s what I work on every single day.

It might never get any better than this and Curry wanted to make sure he and his teammates absorbed and understood that. Green had 21 points, seven blocks, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals in 44 minutes.

Speaking at a news conference on Tuesday afternoon at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, Curry said he never meant to revolutionize the game, as some have said his three-point shooting skill has done.

“He wants it”, coach Steve Kerr said. Somehow, in a country where you can’t get 131 people to agree on anything, not even on whether the Earth is flat, this might be his most impressive accomplishment yet. Curry is the 1st and he is from Charlotte folks.

These arguments don’t even account for the intangibles, like the fact that Curry was the most entertaining player in the league, not to mention one of the sport’s best ambassadors and a likable presence on and off the court.

“It’s sore”, Curry said a day after returning from a two-week absence because of a Grade 1 sprain in his right MCL.

After a successful warmup, he came off the bench and poured in 40 points to lift the Warriors to a 132-125 overtime win against the Portland Trail Blazers and a commanding 3-1 lead in their Western Conference semi-final.

“I think it’s encouraging”, Stotts said. I’m not sitting here with this trophy without you guys.

With her hair in her signature buns and wearing a little grey sweater, Riley prowled around the room and hammed it up for the cameras by motioning to reporters that she had her eyes on them.

YES, Charlotte’s own Stephen Curry did that. “And that is contagious throughout the whole organization”.
