Prince Seen By Doctor Day Before His Death

The Hollywood Reporter claimed an earlier search warrant revealed Prince had been treated by a Dr Michael Todd Schulenberg on April 7 and April 20 before his death on April 21. He then went on to play alternative shows on 14 April. When he arrived on April 21, however, investigators were already on the scene and Prince was dead.

The doctor also wrote prescriptions for the 57-year-old to be filled at Walgreens – the same pharmacy that Prince visited four times in the last seven days leading up to his death.

Schulenberg told authorities he was there to drop off Prince’s test results, and that he had seen the singer on two recent occasions – April 7 and 20.

Amy Conners, a lawyer for Dr Schulenberg, declined to comment, citing patient confidentiality.

Sources told TMZ that federal investigators are investigating Dr. Andrew Kornfeld, who was reportedly present at the Paisley Park complex at the time Prince was found dead. On the morning of Prince’s death, Schulenberg had arrived at Paisley Park with test results for the singer.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office and the DEA announced last week they were joining forces with local investigators, led by the sheriff’s office in Carver County, to investigate Prince’s death. The law enforcement official has been briefed on the investigation and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

The warrant, filed May 6, accidentally was left unsealed until Tuesday, when Carver County learned of the mistake and sent a copy of the order sealing it to the Hennepin County court administrator. A review of his medical license shows no disciplinary action against the physician, who was trained at Oregon Health & Science University and who has board certification in family medicine.

As previously reported, Prince’s team had reached out to Dr. Howard Kornfeld a national authority on opioid addiction based in California.

The doctor treating Prince the week the pop star died – possibly from a drug overdose – has been identified in court papers.

Law enforcement officers also raided Prince’s home in Minneapolis, Minnesota again and obtained medical records from the hospital where Dr. Schulenberg had worked.
