“Amir gave up everything – no concessions”, said Hunter.

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez showed his class and his power with a stunning sixth-round knockout of Amir Khan in Las Vegas. “Unfortunately I didn’t make it to the end”.

“I knew it would be like that, but in the latter rounds it would come to my favour”. “Right now I will put the gloves on again”.

The Bolton-born former WBA and IBF light-welterweight champion was ahead of one of the three judges’ scorecards before being floored by a vicious overhand right. Boxing fans in England have longed for that fight since before Brook even won a world title in August 2014.

“The future still holds big fights for me”. I fear no one in this sport. “Amir Khan, there is no shame in his performance”.

“Many people talk about my power but I’ve got many more qualities in the ring”.

“When a guy’s a lot bigger and a lot stronger, that’s what’s going to happen – but I’ve still got a lot left in me”.

Celebration time for Canelo after his win. Alvarez-Khan was the first boxing match to take place at the 20,000-capacity arena. He fought in spurts, landing combinations and seemingly frustrating Alvarez with his movement.

Judging by the video replay, Khan may have been unconscious before he hit the ground.

Omg. I feel bad for khan. Wow.

“I didn’t make it to the end, but I tried my best”, said Amir “King” Khan.

Khan lay motionless on the canvas while members of his corner rushed to his aid.

It was quite the finish to say the least, and a feather in the cap of Alvarez heading into the second half of 2016. We don’t come to play.

After the fight, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman had a conversation with Khan. But Alvarez (47-1-1, 33 KO) started cutting off the ring better in the fourth round, and taking Khan’s legs away slowly but surely with body shots.

Where does Khan go from here?

The Mexican then invited Golovkin into the ring, challenging him to fight next.

Ringside punch stats showed Khan landing 48 of 166 punches to 64 of 170 for Alvarez.

“I’m a natural 147 (pounds) fighter, but this challenge came and it was very hard to turn down”, Khan said.
