Major League Baseball announced Wednesday it suspended Washington Nationals slugger Bryce Harper one game for his actions during the Nats’ 5-4 win over the Detroit Tigers on Monday.

Washington Nationals’ Bryce Harper looks on from the dugout during the eighth inning of an interleague baseball game against the Detroit Tigers, Tuesday, May 10, 2016, in Washington. The next, teammate Clint Robinson was hitting a game-ending home run.

Harper then ran on the field to celebrate and appeared to yell “f– you” at Knight. The MLB suspending Harper rather than fining him for the incident might be a bit excessive, but it’s hard to argue with the ruling when there is a clear breaking of the rules from a player with a history of not getting along with umpires and being ejected from games.

Harper entered Wednesday batting.

Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman allowed a run in the ninth inning during his season debut, and NY hit five solo home runs, two by Carlos Beltran, in a 6-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Monday night.

“I just tried to go up with a fastball there and it kind of leaked over the middle”, Lowe said. “You’ve got to get past that point where it’s going to split again”. Let’s go play. Sometimes it can be an uncomfortable situation having to talk about things like this, around your teammates when we’re trying to beat the Padres today. “It’s tough to take now, but I think this could possibly help him in the long run”. “We can get something, great”. So far during Strasburg’s injury-prone seven-year career, he has one such season.

“I’ll let you judge that”, Arrieta told reporters about what he believes his market should be. “I am just looking for a fastball in the zone I can drive”.

Dan Jennings (1-0) pitched a scoreless 10th and 11th as the White Sox won their fourth straight in a series opener between teams coming off three-game sweeps. For the first time during that losing skid Detroit did not lose by four runs or more.

Norris had surgery in October for a cancerous growth in his thyroid but returned this spring and was competing for the No. 5 spot in the starting rotation until he suffered a back injury. Arizona starter Rubby De La Rosa (3-4, 4.60) has struggled so far this season. The Rangers will counter with lefty Derek Holland (3-2, 5.40). Archie Bradley (1-0) shook off a rough start to pitch six innings and get the win the same day he was recalled from Triple-A Reno.
