Ken Livingstone gives up place on Labour’s NEC
The former London mayor has been dropped from the slate of candidates being put forward for the National Executive Committee by the centre-left Grassroots Alliance.

The NEC is the main authority in the party and now has a majority favourable to leader Jeremy Corbyn on it.
In a statement today Mr White, who has been a member of the party for 46 years, said: “I have been saddened to receive a letter from Labour Party head office suspending me from holding office or representing the Labour Party”.
The decision means Livingstone has effectively given up his most influential role within the Labour party. Someone in the Labour bureaucracy doesn’t seem to believe in being innocent until proven guilty.
He said in the letter: “I hope you agree with me that anyone who seeks to attack a minority community, or who supports any form of racism has no place in a civilised political party”. “I do not blame Jeremy at all”.
He said Momentum activists were “particularly active” in marginal areas in the South of England with Conservative MPs – where the party did better than expected.
“The power of suspension should be removed from the bureaucrats and handed back to the leader and the NEC”.
Last week Ian Parker, secretary of the Croydon Central Conservative Federation wrote to Bob Hewitt, chair of the Croydon Central Labour Party, to ask if the party meant to suspend Mr White.
Livingstone was suspended for arguing that Hitler had once been a Zionist – something he defended as “historical fact”.
“As a young, Jewish Scot, she will provide important perspectives that will improve the running of the Labour Party”.
Wolfson, a long-time Labour activist who supported Corbyn’s bid to lead the party, was also a former member of the New Israel Fund, a liberal Zionist organization that raises funds for social justice issues, The Chronicle added.
